![]() ![]() ![]() Paid courses are fine, I want a structured learning plan and I don't mind being very thorough and sitting through 100+ hours of redundant training if it means I come out the other side with a complete end to end understanding of Drupal. I usually do most of my work in the theme layer with a handful of custom modules. Contrib modules tend to take a more enterprise approach, I would like to learn how to build modules in that way (with tests). Patching - I would like to know how to create my own patches.Ĭontrib module development - The modules I have built so far have all been for single site usage and are very direct with the minimum code needed to solve the problem they intend to solve. Module development - I have written more than a few modules but I would like to become fluent with the backend services so I don't have to google 10 examples of what I am trying to do. I did sort of like some of the benefits of Acquia BLT and may want to head that route again as well. This may help with my understanding of the Drupal render array or at least get me looking to xdebug output instead of google for answers.Įnvironment setup, specifically Docker - I develop primarily on Linux and occasionally on Windows or Mac, I am very comfortable setting up Drupal environments but I just have never found the time to learn Docker, DDEV or Lando. Modern Drupal templating, I have not really touched layout builder yet, I think I want to start building sites this way.ĭebugging - At a minimum I would like to learn how to set up and use xdebug but other (more modern) tools would be nice as well. Anything learned about the render array usually disappears in a week or 2 and I repeat the same damn research over and over. TWIG templating, I do a fair bit of advanced work here but anything beyond the basics is like pulling teeth and usually accompanied by 15 browser tabs open (most of it on the Drupal render array). Here are some areas I would like to become more proficient in: I would also like to focus on contributing a few modules back to the community and making sure they are high quality contributions.Ĭurrently thinking buildamodule or not sure which would be better. I have been working full time with Drupal since 2013 (Drupal 8 since 2017) and for 8 years I have been learning what I need to know as needed, I would now like to fill in that hodge podge of experience so that I am more of a comprehensive end to end Drupal developer. I am looking for a comprehensive series that will backfill any holes I have in my Drupal knowledge.
